Research Product Use & Liability Notice

Applies to all products designated Research Use Only, RUO, Not for Human or Veterinary Use, or equivalent.

RESEARCH USE ONLY

RESEARCH PRODUCTS ARE INTENDED SOLELY FOR LAWFUL LABORATORY, ANALYTICAL, EDUCATIONAL, SCIENTIFIC, OR RESEARCH PURPOSES. THEY ARE NOT FOR HUMAN OR VETERINARY CONSUMPTION OR ADMINISTRATION. THEY ARE NOT SUPPLIED PURSUANT TO A PRESCRIPTION, ARE NOT DISPENSED BY A PHARMACY, AND ARE NOT CLEARED FOR PERSONAL USE BY ANY CLINICIAN.

2.1 Purpose and Intended Use

Research Products are offered exclusively for bona fide research and related non-clinical purposes unless Journi expressly states otherwise in writing for a particular product. The label and product page control the intended use of the specific product. Research Products are not:

  • Intended for human or animal consumption or administration;
  • Intended for medical, diagnostic, preventive, therapeutic, treatment, or rehabilitation use;
  • Intended for weight-management, metabolic, sexual-wellness, performance, longevity, cognitive, cosmetic, nutritional, or other personal-use applications;
  • Sold, marketed, or intended as a drug, biologic, dietary supplement, food, cosmetic, medical device, or veterinary product;
  • Accompanied by dosing, reconstitution, or administration instructions of any kind; and
  • Intended for self-experimentation.

2.2 Prohibited Routes of Administration

No Research Product may be ingested, injected, infused, inhaled, insufflated, administered nasally, placed sublingually or buccally, applied topically or transdermally to a person or animal, implanted, or otherwise administered to a human or animal.

2.3 Purchaser Representations

By purchasing a Research Product, you represent and warrant that you are acquiring it solely for lawful research use; you have the knowledge, training, facilities, authority, and safeguards reasonably necessary to handle the material; and you will comply with applicable federal, state, local, and institutional requirements. Specifically:

  • You are not purchasing for personal use or self-administration;
  • You are not purchasing for administration to another person or animal;
  • You will not provide human-use dosing, reconstitution, route, or treatment instructions in connection with the product;
  • You will not relabel, repackage, advertise, resell, distribute, or transfer the product as intended for human or veterinary use.

2.4 Handling, Storage, and Disposal

You are solely responsible for establishing appropriate laboratory controls, storage conditions, access restrictions, personal protective equipment, contamination controls, chain-of-custody procedures, and disposal practices. Research materials may have incompletely characterized toxicological, pharmacological, environmental, or biological properties.

2.5 Product Condition and Certificates of Analysis

Research Products are provided “as is” and “as available.” Except for any express specification stated in an applicable batch-specific certificate of analysis, Journi disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, experimental outcome, compatibility with a protocol, or safety for any application. A certificate of analysis reflects the test methods, sample, tolerances, and conditions stated in that certificate and is not a representation of suitability for human or veterinary use.

2.6 No Medical, Clinical, or Professional Guidance

Journi does not provide dosing instructions, reconstitution instructions, administration instructions, clinical protocols, treatment recommendations, or medical advice for Research Products. Product descriptions, mechanism-of-action summaries, scientific references, educational content, customer support, and other communications must not be used to make treatment or medical decisions.

2.7 Published Research and Scientific Information

References to published literature, receptor activity, experimental models, pharmacology, preclinical studies, or human clinical research do not constitute a representation or recommendation that the Research Product sold by Journi is safe, effective, approved, or appropriate for human or veterinary use. Discussion of a compound studied in humans does not change the intended use of Journi’s Research Product.

2.8 Regulatory Status

Unless Journi expressly states otherwise for a particular item, Research Products have not been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for human or veterinary therapeutic use. Journi does not operate a pharmacy in connection with the sale of Research Products, and Research Products are not compounded or dispensed pursuant to Section 503A as prescription medications.

2.9 Assumption of Risk

You assume the risks associated with lawful possession, handling, storage, transport, research use, contamination, exposure, mislabel interpretation, disposal, and unauthorized use of Research Products, except to the extent applicable law places a non-waivable obligation on Journi.

2.10 Compliance and Enforcement

You are responsible for determining whether your possession, research use, transfer, and disposal are lawful in your jurisdiction and institution. Journi may refuse or cancel an order, restrict an account, or discontinue sales when it reasonably believes the Research Product may be used or distributed contrary to its intended use, these Terms, or applicable law.

2.11 Indemnification

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Journi and its affiliates from third-party claims, losses, liabilities, penalties, costs, and expenses arising from your unauthorized use, unlawful resale or distribution, improper handling or storage, regulatory violation, breach of this Notice, or representations you make about the Research Product that are inconsistent with Journi’s labeling and intended use.

2.12 Liability Cap

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Journi’s aggregate liability arising from a specific Research Product will not exceed the amount you paid Journi for that specific Research Product. Journi will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, punitive, exemplary, or consequential damages, or for damages resulting from unauthorized human or veterinary use.

2.13 Customer Acknowledgment

By completing a purchase, you acknowledge that you understand the intended-use limitations, accept responsibility for lawful handling and research use, assume applicable risks, and agree to the limitations and restrictions in this Notice.
